Global Partnership Initiative 2: Advancing the CSO Enabling Environment & CSO Development Effectiveness

Global Partnership Initiative-2 (GPI-2): Advancing the CSO Enabling Environment & CSO Development Effectiveness

Global Partnership Initiative 2 (GPI-2) is a voluntary initiative of the Task Team. It is affiliated with global efforts to advance aid and development cooperation effectiveness under the auspices of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC), and is mentioned in Annex 3 of the Nairobi Outcome Document (that came out of the GPEDC’s 2016 Second High Level Meeting).

The overall aim of GPI-2 is to support broader and deeper multi-stakeholder engagement to advance Indicator Two: Civil society operates in an environment that maximixes its engagement in and contribution to development. GPI-2, entitled ‘Advancing the CSO Enabling Environment & CSO Development Effectiveness’, has four inter-related components:

i) help refine Indicator Two of the GPEDC Monitoring Framework;

ii) produce a Stock-take of the third round of GPEDC Indicator Two monitoring;

iii) further develop guidance on the CSO enabling environment and CSO development effectiveness;

iv) raise awareness and develop capacity to support country level multi-stakeholder dialogue in relation to Indicator Two and development effectiveness principles more broadly.
