Activities
As a convenor, we bring together development cooperation providers (donors),
partner country governments and CSOs to engage in open and inclusive dialogue
to find common ground. As a knowledge broker, we raise awareness on
international commitments on CSOs in development and offer guidance,
evidence and practical tools to further their implementation.

Task Team Session
The Task Team organized the session Switching gears: Imagine you are someone else! Shift positions between CSO, donor and partner country government representative. Incorporating a role-play, the purpose of the session was to create awareness of what drives other actors and what challenges they face in their environments. The session was also used to raise awareness on the GPEDC’s Indicator 2: civil society operates in an environment that maximizes its engagement in and contribution to development, and the multi-stakeholder process for its 2018 monitoring.
Key Messages from the session
-
In its work, the Task Team seeks to advance the roles of civil society in development, and seek to find common ground, including through means of multi-stakeholder dialogue.
-
The aim of this session was not to come to a conclusion or agreement, but rather to foster reflections on the various aspects of what is needed to enable CSO engagement in development.
-
This session was also founded on the Task Team’s belief that effective engagement of CSOs in development is a shared responsibility. Partner country governments, donors, and CSOs all have a role to play to create an enabling environment and help maximize CSOs’ contributions to development.
