Activities
As a convenor, we bring together development cooperation providers (donors),
partner country governments and CSOs to engage in open and inclusive dialogue
to find common ground. As a knowledge broker, we raise awareness on
international commitments on CSOs in development and offer guidance,
evidence and practical tools to further their implementation.

Session on Task Team’s MSI study
Kees Biekart (Associate Professor at ISS) organized a session on Success factors for multi-stakeholder dialogues drawing from the Comparative Studies of Multi-stakeholder Initiatives (MSI study). The MSI study was commissioned by the Task Team and conducted by Kees Biekart and Alan Fowler with local consultants from Costa Rica, Indonesia, Kenya and Kyrgyzstan. The session was attended by approximately 48 participants. Approximately two thirds had some experience working in MSIs. Participants discussed various success factors for multi-stakeholder dialogues. In addition to the importance of country conditions (including cultural, political and economic conditions) and commitment (including willingness to invest time and resources), attention was drawn to the importance of organizational competencies and the role of the so-called “interlocutor”, the entity that hosts, facilitates, leads or acts as a secretariat for an MSI.
