The Task Team was created in April 2009 within the Working Party on Aid Effectiveness. It was launched to promote and monitor implementation of the civil society-related commitments in the 2008 Accra Agenda for Action (AAA) and the 2008 Recommendations (developed by the Advisory Group on Civil Society and Aid Effectiveness).
From 2008 to 2011 the Task Team facilitated exchange between CSOs, partner countries and providers of development assistance on the implications of the abovementioned commitments.
At the 2011 Busan High Level Forum, the Task Team collaborated with its participants to deepen commitments to an enabling environment for CSOs and CSO development effectiveness in the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC).
Following the Busan High Level Forum, the Task Team renewed its self-defined mandate as a voluntary initiative associated with the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC).
